1948 Indian Chief

Sold - MECUM Indy!

Sunnyside Chevrolet of Elyria, Ohio in conjunction with Greg's Sports, Classic, & Muscle is proud to offer for sale this beautiful 1948 Indian Chief.

Here at Sunnyside Sports, Classic and Muscle (and maybe Indian) we sure love our Indian motorcycles. We really love the full skirted bikes from the 40's and early 50's and are happy to have them around. Sometimes it's a pleasure just to sit and stare at the beautiful lines- they are, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful bikes ever built.

At this time, we are proud to have 3 1940's Chiefs around. We refer to them as our two show horses and our one war horse. The bike you are currently looking at is a beautiful 1948 Show Horse. She's really well restored and prepared to be garage art or to be properly broken in and turned into a show rider- your choice. Every component has been gone through and we are confident this bike will please in whatever use the next caretaker finds for her.

The restoration on this numbers matching Chief was just completed with only 3 break in miles thus far. All work was done by James Soleberg at Ace Motors in Middletown Ohio and for those of you who know Indians you know that James is one of the preeminent Indian engine builders. We have a copy of the break in instructions that will travel with this bike should the next owner chose to use it as a rider rather than garage art. This bike is suited to either no worries.

If you are looking for a bike with provenance this one has a lot to offer. We have a copy of the title for this bike from its owner in Chicago from 1969 and that is how the complete bike came to Joe for restoration. Not some conglomeration of parts this is a real deal Chief.

Not sure which one of our two show horses or our war horse you like? Just come on in and make your choice you won't be disappointed.

Drive it, show it, keep it in a bubble and polish it as a prized possession, the choice is yours once you make it yours.
We stand behind our thoughts on this car by offering our travel expenses guarantee- come see the car and if we have materially misrepresented its condition we will gladly pay half of your travel expenses up to $500.00- this offer had been in place since we sold our first classic and we haven't paid the money yet…. We pride ourselves on having good cars and representing them properly.
