1970 Plymouth Barracuda

Sold - Barrett Jackson January 2022

Sunnyside Chevrolet of Elyria, Ohio in conjunction with Greg's Sports, Classic, & Muscle is proud to offer for sale this beautiful 1970 Plymouth Barracuda Hemi Convertible!!!!!!

Let's start by saying this is not some 6-cylinder poser that is just hot dogged. Nope, this semi restomod was and is the real deal. Built by Chrysler in 1970 as a 383 4BBL with FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING in the best Mopar color ever, B5 Blue. Also, factory equipped as a High Price Class convertible with premium trim grade, bucket seats with cloth insert, full door panels, power black convertible top, power brakes, dual exhaust, AM radio with “stereo” 8 track, and a 26” radiator this was no base Barracuda. This is not us saying so, it's a copy of the Broadcast Sheet, the Fender Tag and copies of paperwork from the guru of all things Mopar, Galen Govier, saying so.

We have the original, numbers matching 383 that will go along with the car.

Now, let's take a look at what this bad boy is today. Purchased in 2008 for the princely sum of 85K the new owner in California decided he wanted the best of both worlds. He started with a 528 650 horsepower Indy Hemi topped with dual Edelbrock carbs. We'd call that a great start. The owner was also sharp enough to save the original 383 should anyone ever choose to put the car back to stock. The Hemi is backed by a 727 Mopar trans that has been rebuilt with a HD2800 stall converter and a gear vendor overdrive. Now let's add a Strange rear end Dana 60 with 3.54 gears. My oh my does this old girl motivate.

When you step on the gas I guarantee a smile.

Thinking now we may want to be able to stop- no problem at all let's do Wilwood Disc Brakes on all four corners with 6 piston calipers up front. We are stopping now. Now let's add subframe connectors, Strange front and rear shocks, an aluminum driveshaft, and we have one handling Cuda here. To round out all the upgrades all the gauges have been gone through and properly calibrated. MSD provides the distributor, the ignition box and the alternator. We have receipts for all of this save the initial investment in the 528 Hemi which we understand is a 20K plus proposition to begin with…

The Cuda is beautifully restored with very nice to excellent paint and metal. There are a few very minor paint imperfections from use. The car overall is stunning in person. The interior is neat, tidy and well done. The engine compartment is very, very nice and it is impressive with that bid ole Elephant Motor stuffed in there. The underside is clean and properly finished- the photos are a great representation.

Drive it, show it, keep it in a bubble and polish it as a prized possession, the choice is yours once you make it yours.

We stand behind our thoughts on this car by offering our travel expenses guarantee- come see the car and if we have materially misrepresented its condition we will gladly pay half of your travel expenses up to $500.00- this offer had been in place since we sold our first classic and we haven't paid the money yet…. We pride ourselves on having good cars and representing them properly.
